Patronise political rallies, says Nice
National Initiative for Civic Education (Nice) Trust has urged people in Thyolo District to attend political rallies to better understand manifestos of various candidates.
Nice Trust Thyolo district programmes officer Moses Kaunda said this on Monday during a mobilisation and voter awareness campaign in Traditional Authority (T/A) Boyidi.
He emphasised the importance of voters following campaign messages of aspiring candidates to assess their development plans.

Said Kaunda “Despite our different political preferences, it is crucial for voters to listen to all manifestos so they can choose those with the best vision for development.
“Attending political rallies
allows people to meet the candidates, hear what they stand for and understand how they plan to improve our communities.”
He also warned the electorate against shunning the elections, urging them to treat the upcoming election as a critical opportunity to elect transformative leaders.
“We should not be discouraged or angry with the electoral process or leadership to the point of abstaining or spoiling our votes. Let’s vote correctly so that our votes count. Avoid practices that lead to null and void ballots,” said Kaunda.
He further appealed to the youth to refrain from being used by politicians to perpetrate violence, cautioning that such behaviour carries legal consequences.
In his remarks, T/A Boyidi thanked Nice for taking electoral messages to the area, saying the information is critical and will help voters make informed decisions.
He, therefore, pledged to work with other traditional leaders to spread the message and encourage eligible voters to participate in the September 16 General Election.
Emmanuel Mailos, a resident of Boyidi Village, described the mobilisation and awareness campaign as a timely reminder about the upcoming elections.
The awareness campaign was conducted with support from the European Union under Boma Lathu project.
